i think the reason why donatella and her team favored gigi to grab more social media attention is because gigi is a lower key, less in-your-face, non-kardashian version of kendall. having kendall as the main face would have made it seem too mainstream and too obvious, i think. it's like trying to be more mainstream and mass but without completely losing "exclusive high fashion".
Ok this is the case: Gigi has an interesting face (unlike Kendall), she has the potentials to be a great model. But what's annoying is that she snapped her finger and the greatest privilege of the fashion world is served to her on a dish. It took Raquel Zimmermann 7 YEARS to go from #50 to #1 on MDC's top 50 models list. There are always some hot new faces every season, but it takes real hard work to gain top model status like Mariacarla, Natasha or Joan. When this social media celebs easily get the best jobs while the more hard-working colleagues are overlooked, it annoys not only fashion admirers but people in general. Unfairness is not right.

It's shameful to see the highlight of fashion shows today revolves around rich, entitled, untalented, social media celebrities when you have such powerful walkers. Much respect for Poly, Boscono, and Stone they come from an era of amazing models that knew the struggle of working their ass off on and off the runway because the next girl was just as amazing, now well they have to follow overrated self proclaimed "super models".
